Yunnan White Moonlight Bio, or Yue Guang Bai is sourced from controlled organic farming from Nanping, Yunnan, China. This tea is made from the Yunnan tea variety, Da Ye (Sinensis). The name Moonlight comes from the unusually large impressive dark leaves that represent the dark sky at night while the velvety lighter leaves symbolize the moon. The opened, dark leaves are particularly large and the precious buds show many soft, silvery white buds 'pekoe'. A smooth, spicy, sweet white tea, reminiscent of apricots, with a sweet potato aftertaste. This quality has larger, coarser leaves and fewer tips than the Imperial quality, which is reflected in less expressive flavors. This tea is somewhat controversial, because of its characteristics it could be called a white, pu er or even a black (red) tea, the tea is processed as a white tea.
The tea has an orange color when brewed and has a full flavor like a white tea, while tasting you can perceive the oxidized character, sweets and fragrant flavors characteristic of an oolong. The tea has a fairly strong, sweet, persistent taste that can sometimes be tasted in Pu'er tea.
